Is anybody going to Mittenfest? Fields of Industry plays the first night, Thursday the 30th around 9:00pm.

Here's the new Fields of Industry album. Been a long time coming. Though it doesn't feel like it's been that long. Because time is moving a lot faster now. Because I'm getting older. Feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested. It goes on sale on July 1, on iTunes and all those places. We also will have CDs at shows and some Michigan shops.

FoI in Grand Rapids Press

This isn't a response to the questionnaire, but that is in the works. This might be part of my answer, though. Check us out in the Grand Rapids press. This photo is in the print version (I think) but didn't make it online. Thanks to Adam and Mary Jane for helping to take it.

Totally Awesome Fest 4

If anyone is around Ann Arbor or Ypsi tonight and through the weekend, come check out the 4th annual Totally Awesome Fest. Fields of Industry is playing at the kickoff tonight at the Dreamland Theater, doors at 8:00pm

Also Reagan Sova's new band (ex-BMP) Long Whisker is playing on Sunday. Their new EP is gonna be up on AvE soon. It's really good.

(By the way, Lucas' new band in Dayton, Hospital Garden, has a demo up on AvE now. It's just Lucas on the recording, but the songs are going to eventually be released as a full band recording).

Solo Set

Hi all.
I played a solo set in Spring Arbor this past Thursday. If anyone is interested, there are (too many) videos of it up on youtube. Here's the first.

Point of Contention

Almost two years ago, many of you were kind enough to help with the music video that Dax and Graham co-directed for the song "Point of Contention" by Fields of Industry.

We had trouble capturing the footage, but I'm happy to say that we finally digitized it with my friend Rhys' camera. Dax and I have spent the past couple months editing in the prestigious, hi-tech editing studio at Columbia University.

After many days of carefully piecing together almost two hours of footage, Dax and Graham are happy to present for you, the Swim Club Super Friends, the world premiere of the "Point of Contention" music video!

FoI @ Mac's, 1/4 ; on the radio 1/3

Hi all.

First of all, it was great getting to see everyone and I missed those that weren't there. I was telling Dax, it was like one of those dreams where you see everyone that you've ever known all at the same place, but you hardly get to talk to anyone. I hope you've all had or will have safe trips home, and I hope you're not all stuck in snowy airports right now.

Secondly, for we Michiganders, Fields is playing tomorrow night in Lansing at Mac's Bar:

We're playing with this great band, the Netherfriends from Chicago, who sound a bit like Animal Collective.

Dax has arranged for us to hype the show on MSU's college station, the Impact. We'll be on their local music show tonight around 8:30. If you're in the area, you can catch it on 88.9 FM, otherwise, you can hear it online here.

Fields of Industry @ the Blind Pig, 11/20

Hi everyone.

Whether you're in Ann Arbor because that's where you always are, or if you're in Michigan early for Thanksgiving, I'd be happy to see you all at Fields of Industry's Blind Pig debut on Tuesday 11/20.

The show starts at 10:00pm, we play fourth, so maybe 11:30?

With this being our first time playing there, we're asked to play on one of the showcase nights with a handful of other bands playing for the first time. We're expected to demonstrate our ability to draw an audience.

If all goes well, maybe next time we'll be opening for Esham.

RC40 & FoI in East Lansing

Everyone,

RC40 is happening soon. I've heard rumors of some of you attending. I'm not sure who and I'm not sure from where you'll be coming. However, Fields of Industry will be playing a (weird) show in East Lansing that weekend, on the 19th. It's at the East Lansing Espresso Royale. Yeah, yeah, a coffee shop show. I never know what to do with these. It's kind of a show but kind of not, because on the one hand, the place is doing you a favor by letting you play, but on the other hand, there's this unspoken expectation that you become part of the physical structure of the building, the fake "cafe" atmosphere or whatever; don't play too loud, don't bother anybody, don't draw any attention to yourself, just sit there and be an element of my peripheral experience while I buy this cup of coffee, glance at you disinterestedly and leave. Though even that probably won't happen on a Friday night, 'cause who goes out for coffee on a Friday? Not anybody who wants to listen to some space out band, that's for sure. Just people like me who are too limited in their capacity to generate ideas for action that they just end up doing the same thing all the time: "It's Friday night, what should I do? Well, I like to drink coffee, maybe I'll go to some franchised coffee shop since that's what I always do." To make it more weird, we have an open performance window of 8:00-11:30. We can't fill that unless we decide to bring Eric's new reel-to-reel tape machine along and play tape loops for twenty minutes between songs. As awesome as that would be...

Anyway, if you're making the pilgrimage to Ann Arbor the weekend of 10/19, please consider coming up to East Lansing. I'd be happy to see any and all of you, though I'm sure I'd see you in Ann Arbor too, since I plan on checking out the RC festivities.

Fields of Industry - Live on WCBN - 3/28/2007

I meant to give the Swim Club a heads up about this, but I totally forgot. Fields of Industry played live on WCBN's Local Music Show last night, and you all could have listened in online if I had told you about it. So, I'm sorry.

BUT, I did get a recording of it. After a little work this afternoon, you can now download the audio from last night at the following links.

We went to a five-piece line-up last night, with Sarah playing (a really cool) modified Casio and Kevin (who played in an earlier incarnation of the band) on a full drum kit. That's right, cymbals.
